Strong Foundations
The seeds of LGSE Limited were planted when our founder, Lisimba Gilkes, graduated from The University of Birmingham with a degree in Software Engineering. Facing the challenges of the 2008 financial crisis and limited job prospects, Lisimba turned adversity into opportunity by developing personal projects to master web development and build an impressive portfolio that would open doors to future opportunities.
2010
Industry Recognition
Lisimba's technical talents were recognised when he secured a contract role with a world-leading medical journal to develop their cross-platform mobile app. This pivotal moment demonstrated his ability to deliver enterprise-level solutions and laid the groundwork for what would become LGSE Limited.
2011
LGSE Limited is Born
Driven by a passion for technology and entrepreneurship, Lisimba officially launched LGSE Limited with a clear vision: everyone should have the opportunity to launch successful tech products regardless of their background. We began by helping non-technical and underrepresented entrepreneurs turn their ideas into reality through website and mobile app development.
2012-2016
Building a Diverse Portfolio and Working with Industry Leaders
During these formative years, LGSE Limited expanded its client base across diverse sectors, from social networking platforms to video analytics tools. As our reputation for excellence grew, we had the privilege of working with world-leading companies including Reed Elsevier and Onfido. These collaborations allowed us to deliver innovative projects—from complex data solutions to specialised applications—while maintaining our commitment to quality and inclusivity.
2016-2024
Professional Growth at Funding Circle
Seeking to further develop professionally, Lisimba took a step back from day-to-day operations at LGSE Limited to join Funding Circle, a leading fintech company providing loans to small businesses. Over eight years, he progressed from software engineer to engineering manager, building and leading teams of up to 25 data engineers. This valuable industry experience significantly enhanced his leadership capabilities and deepened his understanding of diverse business operations, knowledge that would later strengthen LGSE Limited's service offerings.

LGSE Continues While Building Industry Experience
While Lisimba focused on his role at Funding Circle, LGSE Limited continued to serve select clients. The dual experience of running a consultancy while working within a rapidly-scaling fintech provided invaluable insights into building effective technical solutions for growing businesses.

With a wealth of experience from both his entrepreneurial journey and his eight years at Funding Circle, Lisimba returned his full attention to LGSE Limited with a refined vision.
